Welcome to the Vendetta (U13-G) Team Site
View from the Bench:
Vendetta had a terrific first year as a team. The season finale was a marvellous championship at the Durango tournament on Mothers' Day weekend.
Congratulations Vendetta!!
Now we are Under 13s. We have said our goodbyes to Katie and Bizzy who have moved away. We miss them both, and hope they are enjoying their soccer there as much as they did here.
This winter's tournament schedule has been quite disrupted by the weather, however we did get to play a full schedule, finally, at the Desert Classic on the week-end of February 9th. There we won two and drew the other (vs. eventual tournament winners Tanque Verde: 0-0) to finish second in the group by one point. This was not good enough to advance to the final, though we scored a moral victory by having more points than the other finalist: Tivoli.
In previous action Vendetta came second at The Christmas Angel. Rains caused that competition to be decided by full-squad penalty shoot-outs. This is a particularly nervewracking situation to be in, and the team did wonderfully well hitting 12 of 14 and 11 of 14 in two of the three preliminary rounds. A score in the Final of Vendetta: 4, Blackhawks 95: 6 atests to the nervousness of the occasion.
The Shoot for the Stars at CCV was similarly weather shortened, although we did get two games into our schedule on Saturday Jan.26th. We started with a 3-0 display vs. our hostesses. This was without doubt the best game we have played to date. We followed up in the afternoon with a 1-1 draw against a Tivoli team playing their first game of the day. Another good, though slightly tired, performance which saw us relinquish the lead in the final 5 mins. of the game. The rest of the competition was decided by the toss of a coin. We emerged as champions.
As of this writing we are riding a nine game unbeaten run, having conceeded one goal and scored 20 in that time. The team continues to work hard in a good spirit. They play hard and fair, and continue to impress other coaches and officials wherever they go. We look forward to a tough second half of the season, especially in the AYSO Tournaments where we will be in the younger half of the age-bracket.
We thrive in adversity.
